KANPUR: What more could be the height of heedlessness than the poor patchwork done on the roads leading towards Idgah and Gwal Toli respectively? To our utmost surprise, it has been detached within a mere eight hours. The stones stripped off the repaired road and the pebbles were widely scattered all over the road. This was immensely causing trouble to the road users as well.
This patchwork was being done at a cost of Rs 6 Lakh, as the Corporator said. So far the work was less than half-done but the result remained very pitiable.
The Corporator also pointed out that the caved-in spots were not neatly cleaned up. The repairing was done over the sheltered clay thereby leading to breaking of the patchwork in early on time. Its adhesion to the place was not strong. It was a sheer waste of money, complained the Corporator.
