India: Band business facing tough days owing to Covid

 Indian Shadi Marriage band

Kanpur: As many as 25 Band Groups in the city have lost its business during the last eight months owing to the Corona. The operators are said to be on the verge of starvation. Their trollies are not moving. Even though the poor condition of ghodi (mare) & Bagghi (Coach) suppliers are also terribly gone worse presently.

It has also been reported that the band team has not been getting any fresh order or booking during these scary months owing to vague guidelines, as the band owners maintain.

Those hiring them are compelled to return in the absence of unclear rules, as was reported.

The band party workers have urged the government to extend some kind of economic help but it all seemed to have fallen on the deaf ears, as they pointed out adding that some of us either are running tea stall or selling vegetables for the livelihood.

Normally, there used to be above 65 orders of the marriages in the whole of the year. Besides, there were also orders on taking out processions I.e. Shobha Yatra and also for several other events. So, the income was rolling out but nothing like that continues at present.

Meanwhile, Kanpur Band Welfare Association official said they would approach the District Magistrate and hand over him a copy of the memorandum of demands.
