New Delhi, December 27; GANASHAKTI: The CPI(M), Delhi State Committee condemns the Noida administration for banning namaz in public parks. This is a deliberate attempt to deprive people belonging to the Muslim minorities of their right of freedom of religion guaranteed by Constitution of India. This step is in fact nothing but the implementation by the Noida administration of the public declaration of Yogi Adityanath that namaz should not be allowed in public places.
No such restrictions have been placed on use of public parks for observance of Hindu festivals like Dusshera or Navratras. The yearly Kawad yatra that leads to disruption of traffic for a week or more in a large swathe of territory, especially in Uttar Pradesh does not attract any restrictions. Instead the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi make special arrangements to provide unimpeded passage to kawarias.
The communal overtones of this order of the Noida administration are more than apparent from this selective maltreatment being meted out to the Muslim minority. This anti-minority zeal of the Noida administration is also seen in its advisory to factory owners in Noida to discourage their workers from joining namaz in public parks during their lunch break.
The above communally motivated and discriminatory order of the Noida administration cannot be accepted. We therefore demand the immediate withdrawal of the order banning namaz in public parks.
