KANPUR: Passengers’ ire led to worse situation owing to delay in trains’ departure after a sudden stoppage. Their infuriated reactions resulted in passengers’ injury, glass window rupture and other discomfited situations.
Angered examinees boarding Padmavat Express pelted stones on Delhi-Kanpur Shatabdi Express near Bhaupur on Sunday. A few passengers injured and the train did not move for a one-and-a-half hour for further journey.
According to the railways' sources, as many as 35 trains were diverted on Kanpur-Delhi route owing to a mishap on the Lucknow-Hardoi route. This diversion increased traffic blockage on the route and the movement of the trains remained unfixed.
The trains were being signalled only after clearance of the route. Meanwhile, the passengers vented their deep anger by placing concrete sleepers on Kanpur-Lucknow Up track. As a result, Howrah-Amritsar Express was delayed for three long hours at Ganga Ghat railway station.
The derailment of the Goods train on Lucknow-Hardoi route caused overloading of traffic on the route and delay was inevitable. So the train could not move further from Ganga Ghat station.
In the third incident, the passengers’ impatience gave way with the delay in replacement of electric engine in Doon Express at Magarwara railway station in Unnao. Stone pelting caused the breaking of AC coach glass windows.
