India: Sweet gourd, ladyfinger selling at exorbitant rate

 vegetable vendor India

KANPUR: Though the vegetables' prices have been fixed, the vendors are making hay of the scary situation.

As the residents are fearing to go out in pursuance of the lockdown norm, one or two or three sabziwallahs are entering into the premises of the building in Jajmau on Thursday. So, they easily buy vegetables just within their premises.

They looked quite happy at the sale of their different vegetables. What irked the housewives was the rate of sweet gourd and ladyfinger. One item was selling at the rate of Rs 80 per kg while other at Rs 60 per kg. The customers tried to buy but two among them quickly retreated due to heavy rates per kg.

One housewife approached the vendor to buy the cauliflower, but it was not handy. She felt bad at both the veg vendors.

The steep rate of above-mentioned two seasonal vegetables was not liked by one and all present around the cart. One man in full voice reacted it was too better to consume chicken meat than these simple vegetables. However, none prefers chicken which sells at the same vegetables' rate.
