KANPUR: Busy as usual, the Ghantaghar crossing finds people’s ample movement every day. But they never look high at the clock tower because its hands do not move. It remains calm in the tower.
As told by the shopkeepers there, the machine of the clock had lost its function several years ago. Even authorities concerned did not care about its functioning. But lately there rang a buzz in their ears suddenly.
This closed clock caught the attention of divisional commissioner Subhash Chandra Sharma during his inspection of the areas near the clock tower here. The moment his vision fell upon the stopped clock, he could not approve of its not working position.
“It needs repairing”, he uttered directing the additional municipal commissioner Arvind Rai to get it relived as soon as possible. The officials standing around him would have been surprised a bit so as to think about what happened. However, they were in a state of accepting the commissioner’s order. In a moment they slipped into a challenge. They were not sure how to react but they wanted to let things happen.
Time could not be grasped. What was not thought earlier could be completed now. We will be able to hear the tick, tick sound and the time again. It will surely be a normal routine, they realise.
