Kanpur: Disparity in holidays at school is not uncommon narrowly. Fourth major bathing of the Magh Mela falls on Jan 29 as some schools in Kanpur are closed for the day. There are other schools which will remain closed on Thursday. However, one news-item published in prominent news daily informs the auspicious bathing day falls on January 30 at Allahabad.
The calendars acquainting us with the holiday for Basant Panchami tell of the holiday on either 29th or 30th. It may be because of the bathing has been scheduled for two different days. No scholarly opinion was attempted to confirm this guess.
As regards the security arrangements and road traffic plan these are arranged for two days in view of good supervision.
One school diary prints the holiday for Jan 29 while another school does not carry the holiday on this very date. This may be due to the provision of the restricted holiday on this day when the simple but ardent devotees take a holy dip into the holy Ganges on the auspicious event.
