Muzaffarnagar (UP), Sep 14; PTI: A farmer in Muzaffarnagar's Rajpur village has allegedly committed suicide after failing to pay a debt, police said Friday.
Ravinder Kumar (48) ended his life by hanging from the ceiling of his house on Thursday, they said.
According to Circle Officer Hariram Yadav, a suicide note allegedly written by Kumar was also recovered in which the farmer claimed that he had sold his land to a teacher to clear the debt but he did not pay the promised amount.
In a police complaint, Kumar's wife, Daya Vati, alleged that the teacher refused to pay the amount and threatened him when he demanded his money. She said her husband was worried over this and took the extreme step.
