Int'l cricket matches to be held by year's end at Green Park

Kanpur: By the year's end there will be an international match at Green Park, said the UP sports minister Chetan Chauhan. He disclosed this point while inaugurating the Yoga centre, shooting range, and astroturf at the stadium.

The cricket lovers of the city have not enjoyed international cricket matches for a long time. They were expecting that whatever hurdles were there, it would be sorted out as soon as possible. It was only then the cricket fans would find time to enjoy the foreign cricketers at the stadium.

He also made it clear that the sportspersons in the state would receive full support but expressed concern at the delay in construction of the media centre. For this unnecessary delay, the paucity of the budget was the main obstacle. Even the air-condition fitting was also delayed because of fund paucity.

However, he looked optimistic in tackling the hurdles and everything would soon be arranged by his efforts. Being a cricketer of his time he was well aware of the difficulties of the players. He was devoting enough time in lifting the quality of games and sports in Uttar Pradesh.
