Joint Russian-Indian drills Indra-2018 switch to active phase

Troops of Russia’s Eastern Military District and units of the Indian Army have switched to the active stage of the Indra-2018 joint military drills in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India, the press office of the Eastern Military District reported on Saturday.

China supports necessary WTO reforms

BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- China supports necessary reforms of the World Trade Organization (WTO), raising three fundamental principles and five proposals concerning such improvements, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said Friday.

The multilateral trading system is now challenged by unilateralism and trade protectionism, Wang Shouwen, vice minister of commerce, told a press conference.

Indonesian plane crash: Body of Indian pilot identified

New Delhi, Nov 24 (PTI) Indonesian authorities have identified the body of Indian pilot Bhavye Suneja who captained the ill-fated Indonesian plane that crashed into the sea on October 29.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, in a tweet, announced about identification of Suneja's body.

"Indonesian authorities have confirmed identification of the body of Capt.Bhavya Suneja. The remains will be handed over to the family in the presence of @IndianEmbJkt today. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family," she tweeted.

EAEU to create free trade zone with ASEAN, says Russian expert

US Section 301 investigation update "groundless, unacceptable": China

BEIJING, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- The new accusations against China made by the United States in the update of the Section 301 investigation disregard the facts and are totally unacceptable, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Thursday.

"China is deeply concerned with the new accusations, and urges the U.S. side to stop making statements or moves that are destructive to bilateral economic and trade ties," MOC spokesperson Gao Feng said at a press conference.

Nissan board fires Ghosn as chairman following arrest

TOKYO (AP) — Nissan Motor Co. fired Carlos Ghosn as chairman Thursday, curtailing the powerful executive’s nearly two decade long reign at the Japanese automaker after his arrest for alleged financial improprieties.

In an hours-long meeting, the company’s board of directors voted unanimously to dismiss Ghosn as chairman and as a representative director, Nissan said in a statement. It said its own internal investigation, prompted by a whistleblower, found serious misconduct including under-reporting of his income and misuse of company assets.

Dead sperm whale in Indonesia found with 6 kg of plastic in stomach

21 Nov 2018; AFP: A sperm whale has been found dead in Indonesia with 115 plastic cups and 25 plastic bags in its stomach, raising concern among environmentalists and throwing the spotlight on the country's rubbish problem.

The items were part of nearly six kilograms (13 pounds) of plastic waste discovered in the 9.5-metre (31-foot) carcass when it washed ashore in Wakatobi National Park, in Southeast Sulawesi province, on Monday.

Other debris included flip flops and ripped tarpaulins, the head of Wakatobi tourism, La Ode Saleh Hanan, told AFP on Wednesday.
