Pakistan disappointed at resolution on blasphemy laws in EU Parliament

ISLAMABAD, Apr 30 (APP): Pakistan on Friday said it was disappointed at the adoption of a resolution at the European Parliament on blasphemy laws in the country.

“The discourse in the European Parliament reflects a lack of understanding in the context of blasphemy laws and associated religious sensitivities in Pakistan – and in the wider Muslim world,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri stated in response to queries.

“The unwarranted commentary about Pakistan’s judicial system and domestic laws are regrettable,” he added.

Pakistan: AJK President condemns ill-treatment towards jailed Kashmiris in Indian prisons

MIRPUR (AJK): Apr 30 (APP): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan while condemning the inhumane treatment of 174 political leaders and thousands of political activists lodged in occupied Kashmir and Indian jails on Friday demanded their immediate and unconditional release.

“The deteriorating health of the some of these prisoners of conscience and threat posed to their lives is a matter of serious concern,” he said and demanded immediate release of all these detainees.

Pakistan: COVID-19 claims 70 lives, infects 4,825 more people

ISLAMABAD, Apr 26 (APP): The national tally on Monday of total active COVID-19 cases was recorded 89,219 with 4,825 more people tested positive for the deadly virus and 4,234 people recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours.

Seventy corona patients have died during past 24 hours, 65 of whom were under treatment in hospitals and five out of the hospitals in their respective quarantines or homes, according to the latest update issued by the National command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

Govt decides to open two new border crossings along Pak-Iran border

ISLAMABAD, Apr 26 (APP): Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Monday said the government has decided to open two new border crossings at Chowk Aap and Jalgi (Buleda) on Pak-Iran border.

In a tweet after a meeting with Minister for Defence Production Zubaida Jalal in Islamabad, the Interior Minister said the border crossings will not only help boost bilateral trade between Pakistan and Iran but also promote tourism in the area.

Pakistan offers essential supplies to help India

ISLAMABAD — India’s rival Pakistan is offering to send essential medical supplies to its neighbor that’s in the grip of a devastating coronavirus surge that has depleted oxygen stocks and other hospital needs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that as a gesture of solidarity with the people of India, Pakistan has offered to provide relief support including ventilators, oxygen supply kits, digital X-ray machines, PPEs and and related items.

Pakistan: PM expresses solidarity with Indian people battling COVID-19

ISLAMABAD, Apr 24 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan Saturday expressed solidarity with the people of India battling a “dangerous wave” of COVID-19 pandemic with 2.5 million active cases in the country.

“Our prayers for a speedy recovery go to all those suffering from the pandemic in our neighbourhood & the world,” the prime minister said on Twitter.

Pak-Turkey FMs discuss Afghan peace, withdrawal of foreign troops

ISLAMABAD, Apr 24 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu wherein they discussed bilateral ties, Afghan peace process, Istanbul Conference, and US announcement on withdrawal of foreign troops.

The two foreign ministers met on Friday in Istanbul during the visit of Foreign Minister Qureshi to Turkey, a Foreign Office press release said.

Pakistan: PM warns of lockdown in big cities if COVID-19 surge persists

ISLAMABAD, April 23 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday warned that if the surge in COVID-19 cases continued, the government would be compelled to impose lockdown in big cities.

“If the required precautions are not taken, we will have to go for a lockdown… the economy, business and industry, all will suffer and the segment most affected would be our poor people,” the Prime Minister said in a televised address after chairing the meeting of National Coordination Committee for COVID-19.

Hotel blast leaves 3 killed, 11 injured in SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed and 11 others injured when a bomb went off inside the parking area of Serena hotel in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province Wednesday night, hospital sources said.

A spokesperson of Civil Hospital where the injured people were shifted told Xinhua that two of the injured people are in critical condition while more injured people are being brought to the hospital.
