Pakistan: OIC condemns Israel’s attack on Palestinians; warns against dangerous consequences

ISLAMABAD, May 16 (APP): The Muslim world on Sunday while strongly condemning the barbaric Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people, warned against dangerous consequences of Israel’s deliberate inflammation and provocation of religious sensibilities and feelings of Palestinian people and entire Islamic Ummah.

Pakistan eases COVID restrictions on transportation and commercial activities

Islamabad, May 16 (PTI) Pakistan on Sunday started easing coronavirus restrictions on transportation and commercial activities, which were suspended for a week to curb the spread of the virus during Eid holidays.

The easing of restrictions came even as the country's coronavirus positivity rose to 7.83 per cent on Sunday, a day after falling to more than two months low to about 5 per cent.

All businesses and public transport were suspended from May 10-16 to stop mass movement during the Eid al-Fitr holidays to curb the spread of the virus.

Pakistan on Israeli attacks: 'Not conflict but a massacre'

15 May 2021; MEMO: Pakistan's human rights minister on Saturday took exception to UN chief Antonio Guterres calling the current violence in the Mideast a "conflict," saying it is instead a "massacre."

"With respect honourable SG (secretary general) this is not a conflict but a massacre by an Occupation Power & UN needs to enforce its responsibility to protect the Palestinian people against Israel's state terrorism," Shireen Mazari said on Twitter.

Pakistan: Qureshi urges Afghan parties for efforts to achieve permanent ceasefire

ISLAMABAD, May 14 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Friday welcomed the recently announced Eid ceasefire by the Afghan parties and emphasized the continuous efforts for a permanent truce.

The foreign minister received a telephone call from Afghan counterpart Mohammad Haneef Atmar wherein they exchanged greetings on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support to the Afghan Peace Process.

Pakistan, Turkey to move resolution for urgent UNGA meeting on Palestine, says FM Qureshi

MULTAN, May 13 (APP): Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi Thursday said that Pakistan and Turkey have decided to jointly move United Nations with consensus among muslim ummah for an urgent meeting of UN general assembly on the Palestine issue to stop horrendous brutalities of Israeli army targeting Palestinians.

Talking to newsmen after saying Eid prayers at the mausoleum of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Multani, Qureshi said that whole Pakistani nation stand united on the issues of Kashmir and Palestine.

Pakistan: PM reassures Abbas of Pakistan’s steadfast support to Palestinian rights

ISLAMABAD, May 13 (APP): Prime Minster Imran Khan Thursday reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the rights of Palestinian people and their legitimate struggle.  

 The prime minister held a telephonic conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the ongoing situation in Palestine. 

 The prime minister reassured president Abbas of Pakistan’s efforts in mobilizing the international community against flagrant violations of human rights and international law.

ISLAMABAD, May 12 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday expressed strong solidarity with Palestine, in condemnation of the use of brutal force by Israeli forces against the defenceless Palestinians in Gaza.

The prime minister participated in the trending Twitter campaign #We Stand with Palestine and #We Stand with Gaza by posting a single-line loud and clear message in support of Palestinians.

Pakistan to welcome 3rd-party facilitation by Saudi Arabia, other countries on talks with India: FM

ISLAMABAD, May 11 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday said Pakistan would welcome the third-party facilitation by Saudi Arabia or any other country for resumption of talks with India.

“Pakistan is ready for third-party facilitation. It is India that has always shied away from it,” the foreign minister said in a press conference held here at Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Qureshi said Saudi Arabia was the friend of Pakistan and also had business ties with India, which was a big importer of Saudi oil.

Pakistan: Jammu & Kashmir not India’s internal matter: FM

ISLAMABAD, May 10 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday categorically said that Jammu and Kashmir was not India’s internal matter and the final settlement of the dispute lay in the resolutions of United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

“Let me be clear: Jammu & Kashmir is an internationally recognised dispute on the UN Security Council agenda,” he said in a tweet.

The Foreign Minister mentioned that UNSC resolution called for “free and impartial plebiscite under” the UN auspices to resolve the dispute.

Pakistani president allows use of electronic voting machines in general elections

ISLAMABAD, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President Arif Alvi Saturday promulgated an ordinance to allow the use of electronic voting machines in general elections as well as permission to Pakistani expatriates to cast their votes in the country's elections, a statement from the president's office said.

According to the statement, the president made an amendment in the Election Act of the country, making the Election Commission of Pakistan responsible for procurement of the electronic voting machines for use in the general elections.
