Pakistan blames India for terrorist attack in Karachi

Islamabad; 01 July 2020 (UMMN): Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan has blamed India for the terrorist attack on the stock exchange building in Karachi.

"There is no doubt that India is behind the attack," Khan said in his address to Parliament on Tuesday.

Four heavily armed gunmen with grenades attacked the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday, killing two guards and a policeman before getting killed by the security forces.

Pakistan summons Indian envoy over ceasefire violations

ISLAMABAD, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan summoned Indian charge d'affaires Gaurav Ahluwalia to the country on Wednesday to lodge protest over unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian military along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir area, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said.

A youth was killed and five other civilians sustained serious injuries due to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing by the Indian forces along the LoC on Monday and Tuesday, a statement from the foreign ministry said.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 30 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan Tuesday said that India was undoubtedly involved in terrorist activities inside Pakistan, including the attack on the Pakistan Stock Exchange as it was trying to destabilize the country and create an atmosphere of uncertainty.

Speaking in the National Assembly soon after the passage of annual budget, he especially mentioned the valour and huge sacrifices of police personnel and security guards who thwarted the terrorist attack on the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday.

Pakistan: Militants attack Karachi stock exchange, killing at least 3

KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) — Militants attacked the stock exchange in the Pakistani city of Karachi on Monday, killing at least three people — two guards and a policeman, according to police. Special police forces deployed to the scene of the attack and in a swift operation secured the building, killing all four gunmen.

A third security guard was reported to be in critical condition following the assault.

Pakistan's anti-graft body files corruption case against Nawaz Sharif

Lahore, Jun 27 (PTI) Pakistan's anti-graft body has filed a corruption case against deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif and three others for their alleged involvement in the illegal allotment of land in Punjab province about 34 years ago.

An arrest warrant has been issued against the 70-year-old three-time premier who is in London for medical treatment.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has approached an anti-corruption court to declare Sharif a proclaimed offender since he did not respond to any of its summons.

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistan has accused old rival India of trying to distract the attention of its people by expelling Pakistani diplomats after Indian forces got a “battering” at the hands of Chinese troops in a clash on their disputed Himalayan border.

Pakistan to ground 150 pilots for cheating to get licenses

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan’s state-run airline said Thursday it will ground 150 pilots, accusing them of obtaining licenses by having others take exams for them, an accusation that followed a probe into last month’s crash that killed 97 people in Karachi.

Abdullah Hafeez, a spokesman for Pakistan International Airlines, did not give additional details about the alleged cheating but said a process to fire the pilots had been initiated.

Pakistan air crash probe shows pilots distracted by coronavirus worry

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - The pilots of a Pakistan airliner that crashed last month, killing 97 people, were distracted as they talked about the coronavirus pandemic throughout the flight before an abortive landing bid, an initial inquiry report showed on Wednesday.

Presenting the report in parliament, Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan said both the pilots and officials at air traffic control did not follow set procedures, leading to the crash.

The pilots were not “focused” because of the coronavirus pandemic, he added, though the aircraft had no technical fault.
