Pakistan invites England for three-match T20 series in Jan 2021

Karachi, Oct 16 (PTI) The Pakistan Cricket Board has invited England for a three-match T20 International series in January next year, PCB CEO Wasim Khan has revealed.

England has not played in Pakistan since the 2005-06 season when the team toured for a Test and one-day series.

Pakistan cleric killed in apparent sectarian attack

KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) — Gunmen riding on a motorcycle shot and killed a religious scholar who belongs to a little-known branch of Islam in Pakistan’s bustling city of Karachi, police said on Sunday.

The killing of Maulana Adil Khan was immediately condemned and seen as an attempt to trigger sectarian violence between Sunnis and Shiites in the country. Prime Minister Imran Khan termed it “an attempt by India to create sectarian conflict across the country,” though no immediate evidence was given that India was behind the attack.

Pakistan: Regional peace depends on resolution of Kashmir dispute: NA Speaker

ISLAMABAD, Oct 9 (APP): National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser Friday said the Kashmir issue should be resolved in accordance with the United Nations Security Council’s resolutions and aspirations of Kashmiri people to ensure lasting peace in the world as well as in the region.

Addressing the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) in Mirpur Azad Jammu and Kashmir, he said the regional and world peace was depended on the resolution of Kashmir dispute, said a news release issued here.

Pakistan to block social media app TikTok for "immoral" content - sources

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistan has decided to block social media App TikTok for failing to filter out “immoral” content, three top government officials said on Friday.

A formal announcement to this effect will be made in a few hours, the officials said.

“We have been asking them repeatedly to put in place an effective mechanism for blocking immoral and indecent content,” one of the top officials directly involved in the decision told Reuters.

Peshawar, Oct 6 (PTI) A provincial government in Pakistan has decided to purchase house of Indian film legendary actor Dilip Kumar in Peshawar and will convert it into a museum to preserve it in its original shape.

In a video message, Kamran Bangash, the Special Assistant on Information to Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has said that the district administration Peshawar has imposed section IV today banning sale and purchase of the four Marla ancestral house of Dilip Kumar in Mohallah Khudadadad Qiassa Khwani Bazar.

Pakistan to oppose India’s claim of Basmati Rice in EU: Dawood

ISLAMABAD, Oct 5 (APP): Pakistan has decided to give a befitting reply to India’s claim of Geographical Indication (GI) tag to Basmati Rice in the European Union (EU) market and it will file its opposition in the EU.

This was decided during a meeting chaired by the Adviser for Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood here on Monday.

PAK: PNS Zulfiqar participates in ‘Passage Exercise’ with JMSDF Ship Onami

ISLAMABAD, Oct 06 (APP): Pakistan Navy Ship ZULFIQUAR (with embarked helo) participated in Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) Ship ONAMI.

Both the ships are presently operating in vital area of Gulf of Aden as part of international efforts to counter piracy and ensure security of international shipping, said a Pakistan Navy press release.

The Passage Exercise encompassed various operational serials with aim to enhance interoperability and augment collaborative efforts to ensure maritime security in the region.

Pakistan tops in Asia for highest response on social protection

ISLAMABAD, Oct 5 (APP): The International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG) has acknowledged Pakistan as one of the top-ranked countries in Asia with the highest number of responses to social protection, the Prime Minister’s Office said on Monday.

The PM’s Office quoted Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Dr. Sania Nishtar, who gave a briefing to Prime Minister Imran Khan here at a meeting.

Former Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari indicted in Park Lane and Thatta Water cases

Islamabad, Oct 5 (PTI) An anti-corruption court in Pakistan on Monday indicted former president Asif Ali Zardari in the Park Lane and Thatta Water Supply cases.

Zardari, 63, the co-chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), was present in the Islamabad-based court and pleaded not guilty.

During the hearing, the court indicted 19 others accused in the Park Lane case and 15 others in the Thatta water supply case.
