India: School vans lack prescribed safety norms in Kanpur

Kanpur: How the school vehicles are running unbridled, refuting norms, its hallmark was seen in front of many schools in the city on Monday.

Children come out one by one after school is over the holiday in Kalyanpur. Several school vans are parked outside. The drivers start filling the kids in the van.

Most of the vans have neither a yellow stripe nor the letter 'School Van'.

Double the vehicle's capacity i.e. 14 to 15 children are stuffed like straw in the van.

In many vans, even the number plate does not remain clear. A van numbered other than UP 78 was also seen carrying children in the city, as was reportedly said.

They do not have fire extinguishers, nor first aid boxes. School related information is not even written on the front and back of the vehicle.

A large number of these are of school vans. In the investigation of school vehicles, the pole of fitness was exposed.
