19 Oct 2021; MEMO: Egyptian authorities are interested in strengthening trade relations with Israel by increasing the volume of trade exchange through the Nitzana crossing; the main commercial land border between the two sides, Israeli Broadcasting Corporation Kan has reported.
Kan said the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, Major General Abbas Kamel met with the Israeli Minister of Economy Orna Barbivai last week at the border crossing and discussed ways to support trade and economic relations between the two sides.
According to Kan, the Israeli minister said "the potential" to expand the volume of trade between Egypt and Israel exists. He is expected to visit Cairo in the coming weeks to discuss strengthening economic cooperation with Egypt.
Various goods, including food commodities, chemical products, building materials, frozen vegetables, frozen fish, textiles, nylon, electrical appliances and spices make the journey through the Nitzana crossing each day.
