KUNDUZ (Afghanistan), Nov 4 (NNN-Xinhua) — Two policemen and four Taliban militants have been confirmed dead as clashes erupted in Chardara district of Afghanistan’s northern Kunduz province on Wednesday, district governor Hafizullah Safi said.
“A group of Taliban militants attacked a security checkpoint in Nahr-e-Sufi area early this morning and police returned fire, forcing the militants to flee after leaving four bodies behind,” Safi told Xinhua.
Two policemen were also killed in the firefight which lasted for a while, the official added.
Three militants and two more policemen had been injured, the official further said.
Taliban militants who have intensified activities have yet to make comments.
