Polls In Israel Show Political Deadlock Might Continue After March Elections

JERUSALEM, Feb 18 (NNN-MA’AN) – Opinion polls, on Monday, showed that Israel’s political deadlock may continue, after the upcoming national elections.

A poll predicts the centrist Blue and White party, headed by Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu’s main rival, Benny Gantz, will gain 36 seats. The Likud, Netanyahu’s right-wing party, is expected to gain 33 seats.

Israel’s Gantz vows to form government without Netanyahu

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli opposition leader Benny Gantz is vowing to form a government that will include neither the indicted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor the predominantly Arab parties in Parliament.

In a series of TV interviews two weeks before national elections, Gantz looked to project confidence that the March 2 vote will provide the decisive outcome that eluded the two previous elections last year.

Israel Fires Smoke Bombs On Borders Of Southern Lebanon

BEIRUT, Feb 15 (NNN-NNA) – The Israeli army, on Friday, fired several smoke bombs on the axis of the border town of Mays al Jabal, in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon, north of the “Blue Line.”

Witnesses from the border area said that, an Israeli foot patrol, protected by three armoured vehicles, threw smoke bombs towards the town of Mays al-Jabal, while carrying out combing activities along the border fence.

Israel names judges for Netanyahu’s corruption trials

13 Feb 2020; MEMO: Israel’s Ministry of Justice yesterday named three judges who will form the court panel of the Jerusalem District Court which will hear the corruption trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, local media reported.

According to the Times of Israel, the Jerusalem District Court said that Rivka Friedman-Feldman will head of the panel and Moshe Bar-am and Oded Shaham will be members.

Israeli police arrest well-known rabbi in Jerusalem on numerous charges

10 Feb 2020; MEMO: Israeli police arrested Rabbi Eliezer Berland in Jerusalem on Sunday on charges of involvement in magic, sex offences, money laundering, misuse of charity funds and tax evasion, Israeli media reported.

Along with his wife and a number of the senior members of his ultra-orthodox sect, Berland, 82, was arrested amidst protests by his followers.
