19 April 2020; MEMO: Palestinian Prisoners Day, EuroPal Forum hosted a webinar via the ZOOM communications platform titled ‘5000 Prisoners: Israeli Racism and Medical Negligence Amidst the COVID-19 Outbreak’.

The webinar, which heard from Motasem Dalloul, Akram Satari, and Charlotte Kates, sought to bridge the lack of coverage on the issue of Palestinian prisoners through facilitating a forum to better understand the current status quo for Palestinians in Israeli jails amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.

JERUSALEM, Apr 19 (NNN-MA’AN) – Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced the doubling of activity at workplaces, as part of a plan to gradually restore the economy, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The rate of workers allowed to go to workplaces will increase from 15 to 30 percent. Those who go to work are subject to fever measurement at entrances, and asked to keep at least two metres away from one another.

In addition, public transport activity will be increased, mainly to allow more workers to get to work.

JERUSALEM, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz announced Saturday that Israel will file a complaint to the United Nations Security Council following an incident on its border with Lebanon the day before.

"Israel thoroughly condemns these attempts to breach the border fence, and expects the Lebanese government to fulfil its responsibility to prevent these kinds of threats against the security of Israel, and of the region as a whole." Katz said in a statement.

JERUSALEM, April 17 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Israel’s parliament was tasked with forming a government after speaker Benny Gantz and Prime Minister Benjamin missed a deadline to seal an alliance, but both sides said negotiations would continue.

Israel’s deeply divided 120-member parliament has no clear path towards a stable governing coalition, so the move risks prolonging the country’s worst-ever political crisis.

JERUSALEM, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his main rival Benny Gantz failed to meet a midnight deadline on Wednesday night to form an emergency unity government.

Negotiation teams with Netanyahu's rightwing Likud party and Gantz's centrist Blue and White party convened for coalition talks on Wednesday evening, but no agreement was signed before the deadline.

Both parties did not immediately issue statements.

15 April 2020; MEMO: A meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and leader of the Blue and White (Kahol Lavan) party, Benny Gantz, on the formation of a national emergency government, ended without result.

The two parties announced, in a statement issued after nearly six hours of talks, that “they will meet again on Wednesday evening after the Jewish Passover holiday”.

JERUSALEM, Apr 14 (NNN-XINHUA) – The number of COVID-19 cases rose to 11,586 in Israel, after 441 new ones were added on Monday.

The ministry also reported 11 new deaths, bringing the death toll to 116.

Among the 11 death cases is a 41-year-old woman, one of the youngest COVID-19 victims in Israel so far.

Currently, 744 patients are hospitalised, 7,222 treated at home, and 1,181 at hotels, converted to quarantine facilities, while the remaining 468 will be treated at home or hotel according to decisions to be made soon.
