Israel Advances New Golan Settlement Named After Trump

JERUSALEM, June 15 (NNN-MA’AN) – Israel started on Sunday, preparations for building a new settlement in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights named after U.S. President, Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said.

Cabinet ministers ratified a decision to establish the new settlement, named “Ramat Trump” in Hebrew, meaning “Trump Heights,” according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office.

“Today, we will begin practical steps in establishing the community of Ramat Trump on the Golan Heights,” Netanyahu told the cabinet.

Israel begins steps on creating community in honor of Trump on Golan Heights

TEL AVIV, June 14. /TASS/: Israel is beginning the implementation of "practical steps" on setting up a community in honor of US President Donald Trump on the Golan Heights, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the government's weekly meeting on Sunday.

"Today, we will begin practical steps in establishing the community of Ramat Trump on the Golan Heights, Israel’s sovereignty over which was recognized by President Trump," Netanyahu said in a statement released by his office.

Massive protest against Israel demolition of Islamic cemetery in Yafa

14 June 2020; MEMO: Hundreds of Palestinian residents of the city of Yafa organised a protest on Tuesday against the Israeli demolition of a historic Islamic cemetery, Anadolu Agency reported.

Protestors performed the Friday prayer and started a march condemning the Israeli decision to demolish the Islamic Al-Isaaf Cemetery located in the north of the city of Yafa.

09 June 2020; MEMO: Israeli Defence Ministry Benny Gantz is set to visit Jordan amid rising tensions between the two countries over plans to annex areas of the occupied West Bank and the strategic Jordan Valley, according to a report by London-based Arabic language news outlet Rai Al-Youm.

The report was also picked up by Israel’s Channel 12, which reported Gantz’s trip could involve an audience with King Abdullah II and a visit to the Jordanian capital, Amman.

Israel: Condolences from Netanyahu, a week after police kill autistic Palestinian

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - More than a week after Israeli police shot dead an unarmed and autistic Palestinian in Jerusalem, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday called the killing a tragedy and offered his condolences to the family.

Iyad al-Halaq, 32, was killed during a police chase in Jerusalem’s Old City on May 30. A police spokesman said at the time officers suspected he was carrying a weapon.

The police internal affairs division is investigating the shooting.
