Israel hits targets in Gaza

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli aircraft struck a series of targets in the Gaza Strip early Monday in response to a series of rocket launches out of the Hamas-ruled territory. It was the third consecutive night of fighting between the enemies.

Tensions have been heightened following last week’s escape from an Israeli prison by six Palestinian inmates, as well as struggling efforts by Egypt to broker a long-term cease-fire in the wake of an 11-day war last May.

Israeli minister says Iran giving militias drone training near Isfahan

HERZLIYA, Israel, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Israel's defence minister accused Iran on Sunday of providing foreign militias with drone training at an airbase near the city of Isfahan, a month after Tehran came under global scrutiny over a suspected drone attack on an Israeli-managed tanker off Oman.

Israel has combined military strikes with diplomatic pressure to beat back what it describes as an effort by its arch-foe, whose nuclear negotiations with the West are deadlocked, to beef up regional clout through allied guerrillas.

Israel strikes Gaza in retaliation to Gilboa prison escape

12 Sep 2021; MEMO: Israel carried out air strikes in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, allegedly in response to Palestinian rocket fire into its territory, the Israeli military said.

Tension between Israel and the Palestinians has risen over the past week, after six Palestinians escaped from a maximum security Israeli jail on Monday. Israeli forces have since captured four of the inmates.

Israeli media: 4 Palestinian escapees captured, 2 at large

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli media reports say two more of the six Palestinian who broke out of a maximum-security prison this week have been arrested at dawn Saturday, leaving two prisoners at large.

The prisoners captured included Zakaria Zubeidi, a well-known militant leader from the second Palestinian uprising in the early 2000s. Photos showed Zubeidi and another unidentified man sitting on the ground, blindfolded and handcuffed. Armed Israeli soldiers in civilian uniforms posed behind them.

Israel: 'largest manhunt in Israeli history' for six Palestinian escapees

09 Sep 2021; MEMO: Israeli security and intelligence services have been involved since Monday in "the largest manhunt" in the occupation state's history in the search for six Palestinians who escaped from the high-security Gilboa Prison through a tunnel. As the search continues, the Israel Defence Forces Chief of Staff, Aviv Kochavi, has boosted the number of soldiers involved in the manhunt.

Israel: manhunt for escaped prisoners achieves nothing

08 Sep 2021; MEMO: For the third day running, Israeli security and intelligence services are continuing their massive manhunt for the six Palestinian prisoners who escaped from the high-security Gilboa Prison overnight on Sunday. Thus far, their efforts have been unsuccessful.

An Israel Prison Service official described the escape of the six Palestinian prisoners as a "major security and intelligence failure." Palestinian resistance groups hailed it as "heroic act."

Jordan: protect Palestinian escapees, says former minister

07 Sep 2021; MEMO: A former Minister of Information in Jordan called on Monday for Arab countries to open their borders to Palestinian escapees from Israeli prisons, Quds Press has reported. Taher Al-Odwan made his comment in response to the news that six Palestinians have escaped from Israel's high-security Gilboa Prison.
