Israel: TV channel reveals meeting between Lapid and King of Jordan

The two men apparently discussed recent tension at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and Israeli aggression against the Palestinians, which was described by the programme as "clashes".

Israeli PM says to meet Gulf ministers in U.S.

JERUSALEM, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said on Saturday that he will hold his first meetings with senior Gulf ministers in New York.

Bennett was set to depart on Saturday night to the United States to address the UN General Assembly on Monday, his office said in a statement.

On Sunday, he is expected to meet Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Almarar, according to the statement.

He will also meet the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Israeli troops kill 4 Palestinians in West Bank clashes

JERUSALEM (AP) — At least four Palestinian gunmen were killed in shootouts with Israeli security forces during a sweeping West Bank arrest operation cracking down on the Islamic militant group Hamas on Sunday, the Israeli military said.

Sunday’s violence was the deadliest between Israeli troops and Palestinian militants in the occupied West Bank in recent weeks and came amid heightened tensions following this year’s 11-day war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Israel suspends high-security Gilboa Prison chief after prisoners escape

24 Sep 2021; MEMO: Israeli prisons authorities yesterday temporarily suspended the head of the Gilboa Prison, Freddy Ben-Sheetrit, after six Palestinian inmates dug their way out of the high security jail earlier this month.

Haaretz said that the Israel Prisons Service Commissioner Katy Perry was muling the "possibility of dismissing Ben-Sheetrit from work" but the Israel Prison Service (IPS) was reported to have rejected her request because the investigation into the jailbreak was "still ongoing."

Israeli court extends arrest of 4 recaptured Palestinian prisoners

20 Sep 2021; MEMO: An Israeli court in the northern city of Nazareth on Sunday extended the detention of four recaptured Palestinian prisoners for further 10 days, according to Israeli media, reports Anadolu Agency.

The detention of Zakaria Zubeidi, Mahmoud al-Arida, Yakub Qaderi, and Mohammad Al-Arida was extended for 10 days for investigation, Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported.

Israel's Likud: Netanyahu was mocking Bennett not Biden in new video

20 Sep 2021; MEMO: Following a video broadcast on Facebook by former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Likud party found itself forced to issue a clarification to avoid annoying US President Joe Biden.

Netanyahu appeared in a video on Facebook on Saturday speaking about the meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Biden that took place last month.

COVID-19 Death Toll Surpasses 7,500 In Israel

JERUSALEM, Sept 19 (NNN-PNN) – The death toll from the COVID-19 in Israel rose by 42 to 7,507 yesterday, the state’s Ministry of Health said.

The ministry also reported 4,863 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the tally of infections in the country to 1,219,374.

The number of patients in serious condition increased from 658 to 717, while total recoveries from the virus climbed to 1,127,340, after 8,674 newly recovered cases were recorded. Active cases stand at 84,527.

Israeli army arrests last 2 of 6 Palestinian prison escapees

JERUSALEM (AP) — The last two of six Palestinian prisoners who escaped a maximum-security Israeli prison two weeks ago were rearrested early Sunday, the Israeli military said.

The two were captured during an Israeli army raid in their hometown of Jenin in the occupied West Bank, closing an intense, embarrassing pursuit that exposed security flaws after the six tunneled out of their cell on Sept. 6.
