DR Congo to open diplomatic mission in Jerusalem: president

JERUSALEM, Oct 29 (NNN-Xinhua) — The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) will open a diplomatic and trade representative in Jerusalem.

Felix Tshisekedi, president of the DRC and the current African Union (AU) chairperson, held a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in Jerusalem on Thursday, said an announcement from Bennett’s office.

Settlement monitor: Israel OKs some 3,000 new settler homes

JERUSALEM (AP) — A settlement monitor said Wednesday that an Israeli committee approved about 3,000 new settler homes in the occupied West Bank, a day after the Biden administration issued its strongest condemnation yet of the proposed construction.

Word of the approval came from Hagit Ofran from the anti-settlement group Peace Now. An Israeli security official who was not authorized to speak publicly also said the plan had been approved, but details were not immediately released by the Defense Ministry.

According to the Times of Israel, Lapid said the Israeli government had done many good things successfully, but neglected many other things.

"Next time, I will be in the room during decisions on such matters," he added, referring to the construction projects.

Israel: Gantz did not have evidence to ban 6 Palestinian NGOs

25 Oct 2021; MEMO: Israeli media reported on yesterday that Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz surprised the Americans, UN and Europeans by declaring six Palestinian NGOs as terrorist groups, local papers reported.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Gantz's declaration has two faults: the NGOs were banned without evidence being provided for the claims against them and the US – Israel's main ally – was not informed prior to the decision.

Israel detains 1,300 Palestinians in 3 months

25 Oct 2021; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces detained more than 1,282 Palestinians over the past three months, a joint report issued by a number of Palestinian rights groups said yesterday.

The report was issued by Addameer for Human Rights, the PLO's Commission for Prisoners and Freed Prisoners, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club and Wadi Al Hilwah Information Centre.

According to the rights groups, the report covered the period between July and September, noting that 525 detentions were carried out in Jerusalem alone.
