JERUSALEM, Jan 24 (NNN-PNA) – Israel’s cabinet decided yesterday, to launch a state investigation, into the procurement of submarines and other vessels from Germany, amid corruption allegations, involving confidants of former Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to a government spokesperson, the cabinet approved establishing a state commission of inquiry, that will investigate the case by vote. Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett, abstained, 26 ministers voted in favour, and one minister voted against.

24 Jan 2022; MEMO: Israel's Central Court refused to rule on Sunday on the return of the Salehiyah family to their home in occupied Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, Sama news agency has reported. The building was demolished by the Israeli occupation police after family members and supporters were evicted by force last Wednesday.

24 Jan 2022; MEMO: The Arab High Follow-Up Committee representing Palestinian citizens of Israel, has called for a protest in front of the Cabinet Office in West Jerusalem against the seizure of Arab-owned land in the Negev desert by the Jewish National Fund. Other protest activities, said the committee, will include sit-ins and awareness meetings in Arab towns and villages within the occupation state.

24 Jan 2022; MEMO: A former Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defence Forces, Gadi Eisenkot, has warned that the country's internal divisions pose a greater threat than its foreign foes, Walla has reported. Eisenkot issued a similar warning a year ago.

23 Jan 2022; MEMO: The Israeli government is expected to vote Sunday on forming an inquiry commission to look into corruption suspicions in a submarine deal five years ago that came to be known as "Case 3000".

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid on Sunday described the case as "the most serious security corruption case in the history of Israel."

"Every stone must be turned in order to reach the truth," Lapid said on Twitter.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Retired general Yair Golan spent a significant part of his military career serving in the occupied West Bank, protecting Jewish settlements. Today, he is one of their most vocal critics.

Golan, a former deputy military chief, is now a legislator with the dovish Meretz party, where he has repeatedly spoken out against settler violence against Palestinians.
