India win their maiden Test series in Australia

Sydney, Jan 7 (PTI) Indian cricket got its new seminal moment after talismanic Virat Kohli led the country to a maiden series victory on Australian soil, ending a 71-year wait to script a golden chapter in the game's history.

The fourth and final Test match at the SCG petered to a barren draw due to inclement weather but not before providing India with a 2-1 series win and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

It is a rare first Down Under for India since Lala Amarnath's side visited the country back in 1947-48 months after independence to face Sir Don Bradman's 'Invincibles'.

India: BJP allies deserting 'sinking ship' a telling sign

Naxal terrorist arrested, revolver recovered

Karimnagar, Jan 6 (PTI) A Naxal was arrested Sunday in Kodimial area of neighbouring Jagtial district in Telangana, police said.

An official said Vavilala Saikumar alias Bharath alias Mahesh (26), a resident of Ganeshnagar in Rajanna Sircilla town, was a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist Leninist) Janashakti group.

The arrested man has three earlier cases of extortion against his name, he said, adding that a revolver and 19 live cartridges were recovered from him.

Thane, Jan 7 (PTI) A 26-year-old man from Kalyan in Maharashtra's Thane district has been booked for allegedly molesting his sister-in-law, police said Monday.

The woman in her complaint stated that she was living in her mother-in-law's home as her husband was bedridden following a paralytic attack and was being nursed there, said an official.

At her mother-in-law's home, the accused made sexual advances towards her, the victim said in her complaint.
