04 Oct 2021; MEMO: Tunisia's President Kais Saied has signed four contracts with French oil and gas companies within a week, a parliamentarian announced yesterday.
Safi Saïd told local media that the pacts were signed "discreetly", noting that Saied was "bias to the French stance in its dispute with the United States over wealth and interests in Tunisia."
The lawmaker accused France of being behind the Tunisian crisis, and of "sponsoring several coups in Africa."
"The president has overturned the constitution and has become part of the counter-revolution," he reiterated, warning of an "imminent coup against Saied in the future."
He added that there was information which pointed to Saied granting one million hectares of agricultural land to Gulf investment companies, stressing that these states are pressuring Tunisia to normalise ties with the occupation state of Israel.
