Leaders belonging to different political parties, except for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is ruling the state and Centre, have condemned the attack on noted activist Swami Agnivesh at Pakur in Jharkhand on July 17, by a lynch mob.
Holding a press conference in Ranchi on July 18, the activist alleged that it was a pre-planned assault by people associated with right wing groups such as the RSS, the BJP and its youth wing BJYM and the ABVP.
"The incident cannot be seen in isolation. It is part of the series of attacks being carried across the state by lynch mob, which enjoy the support of the ruling party," said one of the leaders, and added "We won't accept any probe less than a judicial inquiry."
