India: Exports dip 0.25 pc in February

New Delhi, Mar 2 (PTI) India's exports marginally declined 0.25 per cent to USD 27.67 billion in February while imports grew by 6.98 per cent to USD 40.55 billion during the month, according to provisional data released by the commerce ministry on Tuesday.

The trade deficit widened to USD 12.88 billion in February as compared to USD 10.16 billion in the year-ago period, the ministry said in a statement.

India: Court grants one week to Delhi Police to file reply to activist Nikita Jacob

New Delhi, Mar 2 (PTI) A court here on Tuesday granted a week's time to the Delhi Police to file reply to the anticipatory bail plea of Nikita Jacob, a co-accused along with Disha Ravi in connection with allegedly being involved in sharing a "toolkit" on social media related to the farmers' protest.

Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana allowed the police plea to grant it time till March 9 after the public prosecutor said the agency needed time to file a detailed reply to Jacob's plea.

India: LPG price hiked again by Rs 25; ATF price up 6.5%

New Delhi, Mar 1 (PTI) Cooking gas LPG price was on Monday hiked by Rs 25 per cylinder across all categories, including subsidised fuel and those availed by Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries - the fourth increase in rates in a month's time.

LPG prices have gone up by Rs 125 per 14.2-kg cylinder since the beginning of February, price data from state-owned oil marketing companies showed.

Also, jet fuel prices were hiked by a steep 6.5 per cent on the back of a rally in international oil prices.

India: BJP Lok Sabha member Nand Kumar Singh Chauhan dies of Covid

Bhopal, Mar 2 (PTI) Nand Kumar Singh Chauhan, the BJP Lok Sabha member from Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh, died at a hospital in Gurugram, family sources said on Tuesday.

He was 69.

The six-term MP, who was suffering from COVID-19 and was airlifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram last month in a serious condition, breathed his last late Monday night, the sources said.

He is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters, a BJP spokesman said.

Indian PM says USD 82 billion being invested in ports

Miss India Delhi 2019 Mansi Sehgal joins AAP

New Delhi, Mar 1 (PTI) Former Miss India Delhi Mansi Sehgal joined the Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of party leader Raghav Chadha, the AAP said in a statement on Monday.

Speaking on the occassion, Sehgal, Miss India Delhi 2019, said she was "inspired by the honest governance of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal" and therefore chose to join the AAP.

For any nation to prosper, health and education are the two main pillars and there has been a "tremendous change" in these fields in the last few years under the leadership of Kejriwal, she said.

Indian army cancels recruitment exam after paper leaked

New Delhi, Feb 28 (PTI) The Army has cancelled an examination for pan-India recruitment of general duty personnel after paper was found to have been leaked, officials said on Sunday.

They further said at least three persons have been arrested in Pune so far.

"The Indian Army has zero tolerance towards corrupt practices in the recruitment process for selection of suitable candidates," an official said.

India: Fight not yet over, says sister on Naudeep Kaur's bail

New Delhi, Feb 26 (PTI) The bail granted to labour rights campaigner Naudeep Kaur is far from a victory, her elder sister Rajvir Kaur said on Friday, noting that the fight is still on as the list of activists lodged in jails is "very long".

Kaur was on Friday granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court around six weeks after her arrest in a criminal case filed under several charges, including attempt to murder.

India: NIA files charge sheet against Pakistan's ISI agent for espionage

New Delhi, Feb 26 (PTI) The NIA has filed a supplementary charge sheet against an Indian agent of Pakistan's spy agency ISI for his alleged involvement in espionage, an official said on Friday.

The supplementary charge sheet against Rajakbhai Kumbhar of Gujarat's West Kachchh district was filed on Thursday under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
