UAE, Indonesia Discuss Defence Cooperation

JAKARTA, Dec 14 (NNN-WAM) – Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, met with General Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs of Indonesia, to discuss bilateral cooperation and friendship relations between the two countries.

During the meeting – which was held in Jakarta – the two sides exchanged talks on opportunities to further develop cooperation in various fields, with the aim of enhancing the partnership between the two countries.

India’s Trade Deficit Widens To 12 Billion USD In Nov

MUMBAI, Dec 14 (NNN-PTI) – India’s trade deficit widened to 12.13 billion U.S. dollars in Nov, from 11 billion in Oct, the commerce ministry said, on Friday.

Exports contracted for the fourth straight month in Nov, while the decline in imports eased on sequential basis. However, the deficit narrowed compared to last Nov, at 17.58 billion U.S. dollars.

During the month under review, India’s exports were at 25.98 billion dollars, while imports stood at 38.11 billion dollars.

Turkey urges US to resist ‘anti-Turkey lobbying’ groups

14 Dec 2019; MEMO: A top Turkish official on Friday urged “reasonable statesmen” to push back lobbying groups in Washington which damage Turkish-US ties for the sake of “narrow domestic political interests”, reports Anadolu Agency.

“US foreign policy must find a way to escape sacrificing US national interests for narrow domestic political interests,” Fahrettin Altun, Turkish communications director, said on Twitter.

Infosys faces another lawsuit in US

New Delhi, Dec 12 (PTI) US-based Schall Law Firm has said it will file a class action lawsuit against Infosys Ltd to recover losses suffered by investors in the wake of allegations of "unethical practices" at the Indian IT major.

In October, Infosys had informed the stock exchanges of having received anonymous whistleblower complaints alleging certain unethical practices by the top management.

India-Japan summit in Guwahati postponed due to massive protest ocer CAB

New Delhi, Dec 13 (PTI) India announced on Friday that the annual summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe, which was scheduled to be held in Guwahati, has been postponed.

Abe was scheduled to arrive in Guwahati on Sunday on a three-day India visit to hold summit talks with Modi.

"With reference to the proposed visit of Japanese PM @AbeShinzo to India, both sides have decided to defer the visit to a mutually convenient date in the near future," Spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs Raveesh Kumar tweeted.

EU removes Gabon from Euro airspace blacklist after 11 years

BRUSSELS, Dec 13 (NNN-AFRICANEWS) — Gabonese airlines have been removed from an European Union blacklist that meant that flights from the country could not access the European airspace.

The EU Commission said it had “withdrawn them (Gabon) from the list following improvements in aviation safety in that country.”

The decision announced earlier this week makes it possible for airlines as the National Regional Transport (NRT), Solenta Aviation Gabon, Tropical Air Gabon and Afrijet Business Service to commence flights to Europe.

Europe tells US to back off over Russian gas pipeline

BRUSSELS, Dec 113 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Europe warned Washington to mind its own business after US lawmakers gave initial approval to a bill that would sanction contractors working on a Russian pipeline to the continent.

Brussels “opposes the imposition of sanctions against any EU companies conducting legitimate business,” EU Trade Commissioner Phil Hogan said.
