Honduras to consider returning Israeli embassy to Tel Aviv from Jerusalem

08 August 2022; MEMO: Honduras is considering moving its embassy in Israel back to Tel Aviv, a year after moving it to Jerusalem, according to the Honduran foreign ministry.

Former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, a conservative who considered himself a close Washington ally, moved Honduras's embassy in Israel to Jerusalem in 2021.

Saudi seeks to host 2029 Asian Winter Games in NEOM

Saudi Arabia has applied to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games at its planned megacity NEOM, as the kingdom attempts to boost its presence in international sports.

On Wednesday, the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee announced that it had submitted a letter of interest to the Olympic Council of Asia to host the tenth occurrence of the Asian Winter Games in 2029.

09 August 2022; MEMO: Israel will never break our will, Al-Watan Voice reported a Palestinian family saying after occupation forces demolished their home.

Israeli occupation demolished the houses of Palestinian prisoners Sobhi Sbeehat and Asaad Al-Refae in in the city of Jenin yesterday.

Sbeehat's grandfather said: "A large number of Israeli occupation forces raided Rommana neighbourhood, broke into our house and forcefully evacuated us."

09 August 2022; MEMO: Israel took several months to prepare for the latest offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip, Israeli military analysts have said, noting it came as part of plan dubbed "Wave Breaker" launched by Israeli forces in March.

Several Israeli reports stated that the ceasefire would be temporary, adding that there will definitely be another round of strikes on Gaza.

UN Support For Syria Can Encourage Lebanon’s Syrian Refugees Return Home: Ambassador

BEIRUT, Aug 8 (NNN-NNA) – Syrian ambassador to Lebanon, said that, UN should deliver their financial support to Syria, to encourage the home return of Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

“We have called on UN organisations several times, to offer their financial support for Syrians inside their home country, instead of in Lebanon, to encourage their return to Syria,” Ali Abdel Karim Ali told TV channel, Aljadeed News.

Syria is offering incentives for overseas Syrians to return, such as, exemption from military service and other legal obligations, Ali added.

African Union head condemns Israeli ‘attacks’ in Gaza

ADDIS ABABA, Aug 8 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The chairman of the African Union commission condemned Israeli “air strike attacks” in the Gaza Strip as violence escalates in the troubled region, with 41 Palestinians reported dead.

“Moussa Faki Mahamat strongly condemns the continued air strike attacks by Israel on Gaza that have killed more than 41 Palestinian civilians, including 15 children and four women, and 311 have been injured,” an AU statement said.

2,000 Israelis Visited Al-Aqsa Mosque Amid Gaza Escalation

JERUSALEM, Aug 8 (NNN-WAFA) – Some 2,000 Israelis, mainly ultra-nationalist activists, visited the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, in East Jerusalem yesterday, sparking verbal clashes with Palestinian worshippers, the Israeli police said.

The Jewish visitors, including Itamar Ben-Gvir, a lawmaker and the leader of the far-right Otzma Yehudit party, entered the compound in the morning under heavy police guard, to mark the Jewish holiday of Tisha B’Av.
