Bengaluru, Nov 30 (PTI) A 25-year-old man from Mysuru, pursuing his master's degree in computer science in the US, was reportedly shot dead by an unknown assailant, family members said on Saturday.

Abhishek Sudesh Bhat was temporarily looking after a motel in California, where he was shot on Thursday, Srivatsa, victim's cousin told PTI.

He was pursuing his masters from California State University in San Bernardino.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and another was injured Friday after falling in Arches National Park in the western U.S. state of Utah, authorities said.

A 65-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman died after falling into the lower bowl area below Delicate Arch in the morning, while a 30-year-old man has been sent to a nearby hospital, said the Grand County Sheriff's Office.

The three individuals appear to come from California and may be related, it added.

(Reuters) - A Philippine Airlines flight bound for Manila suffered an apparent engine failure on Thursday shortly after takeoff from Los Angeles and made an emergency landing, authorities said.

All 347 passengers and 18 crew aboard Flight 113, a Boeing Co 777 widebody, are safe, an airline spokeswoman said.

Pilots of flight 113 declared an emergency and reported a possible engine failure, Los Angeles International Airport said.

A witness on the ground described “bursts of flames” coming out of an engine.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Pacific Gas & Electric turned off electricity Wednesday for about 120,000 people in Northern California to prevent power lines from sparking wildfires during a new bout of windy, warm weather.

However, favorable weather allowed the nation’s largest utility to drastically reduce the number of customers it originally had planned to black out — about 375,000 — and even to begin restoring electricity in some areas.
